In this direct sequel to Super Mario Land, Mario returns to his personal island, Mario Land, only to find it has been seized by his greedy rival Wario. Wario has scattered six magical golden coins across various zones; Mario must retrieve them to unlock his castle and confront his archenemy in a final showdown. 

• Diverse Zones: The game features six unique themed areas that can be played in any order, including the Tree Zone, Space Zone, Macro Zone (where Mario is shrunken down), and the horror-themed Pumpkin Zone.
• Power-Ups: Along with the classic Super Mushroom, Fire Flower, and Starman, the game introduces the Magic Carrot. This transforms Mario into Bunny Mario, allowing him to glide through the air and reach hidden areas.
• Innovations: It was one of the first portable Mario games to feature an overworld map and a battery-backed save system.
