Fountaine de l'amour French Tapestry

This jacquard wall tapestry is inspired from a design made by Francois Boucher for the Aubusson manufacture, in the 18th century. Fountaine de l'amour, or Fountain of Love depicts a pastoral scene in an Italianate setting with overgrown greenery, and a fountain. A kneeling youth declares his love to a shepherdess, who is flanked by two other female figures.
