Dragon Ball Z: Legendary Super Warriors is a turn-based strategic fighting game released for the Game Boy Color in 2002. Developed by Flight-Plan and published by Infogrames, it is uniquely centered around a card-based combat system that translates the high-speed action of the anime into tactical maneuvers. 

Gameplay Mechanics

• Card-Based Combat: Battles are conducted using a pool of 125 cards including damage attacks, energy beams, support abilities, and defensive techniques.
• Deck Building: Players must assemble a custom deck of 20 cards before entering battle.
• Battle Phases: Combat is divided into Attack and Defense phases determined by a character's speed stat.
• Resource Management: You use Card Cost (CC) points—earned during battle via command cards—to play your more powerful moves.
• Strategic Positioning: Characters can be moved between four positions (front, back, ground, or air) to gain tactical advantages or dodge incoming attacks. 

Core Game Modes

• Story Mode: Covers the entire Dragon Ball Z timeline from the Saiyan Saga to the Kid Buu Saga. It includes 30 primary battles plus unlockable "What If" scenarios, such as stories involving Future Trunks.
• Battle Mode: A survival-style mode where players face consecutive enemies in three different difficulty tiers (low, mid, and high) to level up and earn rare cards.
• V.S. Mode: Allows two players to battle or trade cards using a Game Boy Link Cable. 

Character Roster

The game features a large roster for the platform, including 27 character slots with various transformable forms. 

• Unlockable Heroes: Playable characters like Goku (SSJ1-3), Vegeta, Piccolo, and Gohan are unlocked through natural story progression.
• Unlockable Villains: Antagonists like the Ginyu Force, Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu are typically unlocked by meeting specific conditions during a second playthrough.
